When Styling A Mantle
Styling the mantle, it is not easy! In our rental home we were always struggling to style the mantle. We wanted it to feel cohesive with the rest of the living room. Unfortunately we had a pinkish brown spray-painted brick (floor to ceiling), and a medium brown mantle with a semi gloss finish.
When we moved into our new home last April I was most excited about (maybe I'm exaggerating a little) our simple, white, cast stone mantle/fireplace. I was convinced that styling a mantle would no longer be an issue. I was wrong. Now all of the Christmas decor is put away and we've lined the mantle with succulents and hung a mirror above. Meanwhile, we'll be pinning inspiration and moving things around occasionally until it feels "finished" (but we're never finished right?!).
Here is a collection of inspiring mantles; these mantles are balanced and beautiful, intentionally complimenting the spaces they're in.
As with most of these spaces, a white fireplace and rustic or white mantle provide a palette for various texture, color and pattern. When combined with a little layering and high/low balancing a space can really be transformed. We wouldn't mind cozying up with coffee in any of these homes.
What ideas do you have for mantle styling? What have you tried, and what's working?
